About Our Company
Vertex Building & Renovation Ltd is a quality construction and building company based in Staffordshire, which is led by Jonathan Bourne and David Muir, who between them have more than 30 years experience. Over the years Jonathan and David have developed the skills, knowledge and expertise to now specialise in house renovation, new builds, commercial work, wall restoration, paving and extensions.
Our History
In 2007, when Jonathan was just 21, he went through a series of challenges and was selected to compete in the International Skills Competition which that year was held at Shizuoka- Japan where he represented the UK in Bricklaying. Jonathan achieved 10th place in the world and was also awarded the Medallion for Excellence.
WorldSkills is an international skills competition held every two years, where 48 member countries meet and compete in 40 different vocational skills. The programme is designed by WorldSkills UK Experts and is based on the international WorldSkills Standards. The competitors also follow a similar programme to that of the UK’s top athletes. The Team UK Selection process took place over 4 days held at venues in Birmingham, Manchester and London, during which, competitors competed against each other for the one place to represent their skill in Team UK- Jonathan won and was selected to represent the UK in Bricklaying.
Jonathan then dedicated 6 months to travel to York for a week at a time, for 15 weeks in total to perfect his skills under the expert eye of his training manager. This training focused on developing key attributes including problem solving, team work and leadership, all of which were essential to developing a medal-winning performance. Jonathan, along with 21 other competitors representing the UK in events at WorldSkills were invited by Gordon Brown to a reception in London as he endorsed the programme and wanted to celebrate their achievements.
